Leah Swearingen’s communications career spans four decades. At heart she is a growth strategist, applying best practices in communication and engagement. Leah is inspired and privileged to work alongside high caliber CEOs, presidents, founders, executive directors, business owners, managing partners, professionals, community leaders and others in creating and implementing strategic business communications.

Prior to launching Swearingen Communications more than 30 years ago, Leah held in-house positions as National Marketing Manager, Director of Public Relations, and Promotions Manager for corporate and non-profit organizations including Harcourt, Brace Jovanovich. She has worked for media companies such as Jefferson-Pilot Broadcasting, KFMB-TV, and Cox Communications. Leah holds the distinguished APR (Accredited in Public Relations) accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America.

Leah is a national award-winning business writer. She has been a guest lecturer and/or instructor at Point Loma Nazarene University/Fermanian Business and Economic Institute; University of San Diego; and San Diego State University. Leah has been a featured speaker and trainer for such organizations as the Women’s Business Center of California, San Diego County Bar Association; North County Bar Association; Lawyers Club; the Executive Women’s Council-University Club of San Diego; and the Association of Legal Administrators.

Leah holds a B.S. degree with high honors from the School of Communication, University of Texas at Austin. In 2010 she returned to college at San Diego State University, completing the full curriculum required to earn a Professional Certificate in Digital and Social Media. Leah was selected for and graduated from the LEAD San Diego class of 1987. She is a recipient of the Bravo/Affiliate award from the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the Executive Women’s Council; Star Award from the San Diego Performing Arts League; and is a multiple finalist for San Diego Women Who Mean Business awards. She received the National Law Firm Marketing Association’s Your Honor Award.

A life-long volunteer, Leah holds leadership positions in numerous charitable and civic organizations.
